Our Products

The products offered through EILS have an extensive research base. Extensive doctoral research and large scale application studies have been completed. Research findings related to the application and limitations of our positive assessment and emotional learning models are shared annually at our Institute for Emotional Intelligence. We see our products as practical tools for personal and professional development. Professionals interested in using our materials to help others are asked to complete the ESAP assessment and study the ESAP Professional Manual, as well as complete our latest instrument, the Personal Excellence Map (PEM) and study the PEM Professional Manual. Opportunities to certify as an EILS Program Manager (PM) are provided during a two day pre-conference certification workshop in conjunction with our annual Institute for Emotional Intelligence.

Personal Excellence Map©: A 93-item, 45 minute assessment focusing on the PEM CoverEI skills most related to personal excellence. The PEM assesses 15 skills within five systems and principles. The systems/principles include (1) Beliefs and Purpose, (2) Support and Relationships, (3) Guidance and Vision, (4) Balance and Change, and (5) Power and Commitment. The PEM provides versatility in EI training and learning. First, when used alone, the PEM reframes and extends the education and transformative theory of EI for clients and students who may have inaccurate perceptions of the processes and benefits of affective education and development. Second, when combined with previous opportunities for affective learning provided by the ESAP, the PEM extends the experiential learning processes that are so important for the continued development of EI skills, constructive thinking, and intelligent self-direction. Third, the PEM is well suited for teaching transformational leadership to individuals and for developing these qualities within organizations. Fourth, when delivered prior to the Relationship Skills Map (RSM) (Nelson & Nelson) and after the ESAP, the PEM extends EI-centric learning and paves the way for developing healthier relationships between individuals. Finally, total personal excellence in individuals is significantly related to job satisfaction - an important criterion of workforce stability. Organizational training and education programs are designed around the PEM to teach personal excellence skills and reduce employee turnover. The fifteen skills of personal excellence include Self-Confidence, Self-Appreciation, Congruence, Sellf-Esteem, Assertion, Teambuilding, Personal Leadership, Empathy, Self-Control, Goal Setting, Personal Orientation, Decision Making, Stress Management, Drive Strength, and Self-Management. Participants may chart their results in three formats; the conventional profile, the Personal Excellence Map© and by total score on the PEM's Continuum of Excellence©.
